Jeff Ranieri

NBC Weather Plus Meteorologist

Meteorologist Jeff Ranieri joined the NBC Weather Plus team in 2004 from KCRA-TV in Sacramento, California. From snowstorms to hurricanes, Jeff has covered it all while working on both the east and the west coast.

While at NBC Jeff has traveled to cover many events for the network, including the landfall of Hurricane Katrina, the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino & the Midwest summer floods of 07'. Currently, Jeff is the afternoon Meteorologist on MSNBC and Weather Plus. He also contributes to both "Today" and " Weekend Today".

Jeff graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, and studied meteorology at Mississippi State University. The American Meteorological Society (AMS) has also presented him with the full seal of approval.

Oh, and as a kid, he dreamed of becoming an astronaut.

Ever share your name with a hurricane?: Nope!

Biggest inspiration: My mom. She has always been able to take on the biggest of challenges and overcome anything that may come her way.

Rain, snow, sleet or hail?: Rain... There’s nothing like a cloudy rainy day to relax you.

The perfect day: 78 degrees and sunny with low humidity and a beach very close by!
