Running On ... Hydrogen?

UPDATED: 4:05 pm EDT March 12, 2007

The world's first hydrogen-powered fire department vehicle is now on the job in Sacramento, California.

It's not a fire-truck, but an administrative car. But if the experiment works out, fire trucks could be next.

The future is now as this clean burning car hits the road, leaving only water vapor behind.

This type of vehicle will soon be racing fire commanders to the battle line quickly and fuel-efficiently.

It's all part of Governor Schwarzenegger's plan to cut greenhouse gases 20% by the year 2020.

Researchers say you'll see tens of thousands of vehicles like this in common use by California drivers within ten years.
