Good Plants, Bad Plants

When choosing plants for your garden, a little research goes a long way.

Garden expert Joe Ziccardi of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society says there are three things to pay attention to:
  1. Pick native plants
  2. Choose plants that are low-maintenance
  3. Have the right spot in your garden for the plant

If you put the right plant in the wrong spot, a good plant can become a bad plant.

An example: mint. Put in the wrong spot, it will take over a large portion of your garden.

If you notice a new plant in your garden that you didn't plant yourself, pull it out -- it might be pretty but it could be a weed.
